Take a careful look at the furnishings in your living room. Determine how you are using the space. Is the furniture in the room what you need? Remove what isn't working and make a list of what would make the space better. Look in other rooms in your home and repurpose items that might work better in the living room. Repurposing items you already have is a wonderful, inexpensive way to add a new look to a space. It can also help to limit the purchases you might need to make.
If you are using a TV set as your focal point, place it in an attractive setting such as a wall unit, hanging above a media cabinet or in a hanging media cabinet that can be closed off when not being used while providing yet another conversation piece to enhance your décor. In other words, make it earn the cherished position of the focal point of your room. The largest of your art pieces should be placed with the largest furniture pieces; something that says I'm special! If you don't see the perfect piece, head to thrift shops, yard and garage sales and Flea Markets. You know what to do!
Fortunately, you don't have to start from scratch in order to make your living room a living entity. The furniture already placed in your living room, if seems ugly, can be refurbished or even re-arranged to give a brand new look to the room. Living room can be compartmentalized by some strategic measures that may include separation by cabinets, shelves or even clever flooring and different paint patterns for the walls. The idea is to have optimum utilization of space in the living room.
