Keeping the Great Room, Dining Room and Kitchen \"open\" (meaning no walls between them) help make all the rooms \"feel bigger\". The wall removal helps facilitate the open communications between the rooms. You don't feel isolated in the kitchen when wall barriers are removed, and thus people don't have to step into the kitchen to talk to you. They can do it from outside the kitchen zone.
